At one time, embassies were primarily representations of States by other States. They still carry this function today, but also that of administrative center, business agent, and center for information and culture. The embassy grounds have been thoroughly rearranged in accordance with this breadth of tasks: the old palace has been expanded with a serene, street-side body that takes over the entire administration and consulate services. The new residence is in the garden of the complex, as a new architectural flag, so to speak, and response to the importance of maintaining a view of the palace.
